SAR High School Economics Teacher Gloria Schneider received the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Teaching Champion Awards, which celebrates outstanding NYC area teachers for excellence in economic education by providing students with a deep understanding of economics and the tools to make informed and responsible financial decisions throughout their lives.

The award was given to three NYC based teachers who were selected by an expert panel of judges who reviewed the creative methods employed by the teachers and their ability to effectively engage students. “We applaud these outstanding teachers for their innovation and dedication to making economic concepts come alive for their students,” said Nan J. Morrison, CEE President and CEO. “We hope that by bringing awareness to their achievements, these educators will inspire their fellow teachers to bring economics and personal finance to every classroom.”

In fact, that’s part of the prize. The winning teachers will co-facilitate a training workshop for area teachers and share takeaways with teachers nationwide through CEE’s website, EconEdLink. They also received a $5,000 prize and their schools received a $2,500 cash award to support the growth of economics education within the classroom.
