The YU Wall Street Group continues to host events for the broad Yeshiva University community about various topics of interest. Several prominent speakers have been featured over the past few years including: James Tisch, CEO Loews Corporation; Bill Ackman, Peshing Square; Peter May, Trian Partners; and Ace Greenberg of JP Morgan.
Over the past month, the YUWSG put together a panel on the “Business of Sports” with David Samson, President of the Miami Marlins; Mark Wilf, Owner and President of the Minnesota Vikings; Ahmed Zayat, Owner of Zayat Stables; and moderated by New Rochelle-resident Lawrence Burian, EVP and General Counsel of Madison Square Garden. That event was hosted at Proskauer Rose and sponsored by BMO Capital Markets.
Just eight days later, the YUWSG hosted Leon Cooperman, Chairman and CEO of Omega Advisors at the office of Kaye Scholer. Both events drew well over 100 people, with roughly two-thirds being YU alumni.
The YU Wall Street Group’s next event on the technology industry will take place on June 15, as the YUWSG gets ready to launch a distinct Technology Group, just it launched a distinct Real Estate Group a few years ago. (The YU Real Estate Group hosted Bill Rudin in May, and is co-chaired by New Rochelle resident Bruce Schanzer).
The June 15 event will be with one-time New Rochelle resident David Cowan, who is a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners in California. He will be speaking about “How Startups are Disrupting the Space and Cyber Industries.” Cowan is a twelve-time member of the Forbes Midas List of venture capitalists, based on his investments in early stage companies including: Lifelock; Twitch; Twilio; Dropbox and Skybox Imaging.
