Gallery 18 presents “The World in Watercolor” for the month of May. For Emily Stedman, “The World in Watercolor” is about capturing the emotional spirit of a special locale directly through watercolor painting. The observations and feelings expressed in these paintings tell of Stedman’s journeys around the world. “Painting in watercolor directly on-site allows me to work quickly and in places not normally associated with making art.” Stedman feels that as a fluid, fresh medium, watercolor does justice to traveling and working in a constantly changing environment.
The exhibit runs through May at The Riverdale Y, 5625 Arlington Ave, Bronx NY 10471. The public is invited to a special artist’s reception on Sunday May 22, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
