Kitah alef at WTA has been learning about the people who help our community run smoothly. As their unit of learning came to an end, the class took a field trip to meet the community helpers near the school and thank them for their service. After visiting the post office, police department and fire department, students took part in helping the community themselves! Each morning at WTA, students give tzedakah at their morning tekes. First graders collected the money, counted, sorted and rolled all the coins as part of an interactive math lesson relating to their community helpers unit. The trip ended in a visit to the grocery store where they bought items for a food pantry with the money that was collected.
