Sharon and Jeffrey Lewis, longtime residents of Stamford who have been active in and supportive of many local and national Jewish causes, will be honored by Ohr Torah Stone (OTS) at its annual dinner on Tuesday night, December 5, at Lincoln Square Synagogue in New York City.
Ohr Torah Stone is a Modern Orthodox movement shaping Jewish communities worldwide. It has been inspired by the unique vision of its founder and chancellor, Rabbi Shlomo Riskin. Fueled by a combination of educational institutions, women’s empowerment programs, leadership development, outreach initiatives and social action projects, OTS is illuminating the relevance of authentic Torah Judaism in the modern world and making a transformative impact on Jewish life.
The dinner is marking the 20th anniversary of one of Ohr Torah Stone’s flagship programs, Yad La’Isha, which is specifically geared to providing legal aid to women who are stuck in abusive or inviable marriages.
The dinner committee for the Stamford area is being co-chaired by Ana and Albert Lilienfeld, and also includes Adrienne and Michael Alexander, Darona and Tzvi Bernstein, Elise and Steve Cohen, Monica and Eric Jankelovits, Kori and Bill Meyers and Sharon and Simeon Wohlberg.
Jeffrey remarked, “Sharon and I are humbled and flattered by this honor given to us by OTS, which has done so much good work for the Jewish community worldwide.”
Sharon is the senior campaign executive for the women’s campaign at the Jewish National Fund. She graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and previously was the director of alumni affairs for the law school.
Jeffrey is an IP litigation partner at NortonRoseFulbright, and a past president of the American Intellectual Property Law Association. For more information, visit ots.org.il/2017-annual-dinner.
