Grand Chanukah party

Cross-county menorah lighting

Car menorah parade

Ridge Hill menorah lighting

Menorah lighting at Untermyer Park

On Sunday, December 25, Chabad of Yonkers hosted a Chanukah party, attended by over 100 people. A Chinese buffet was served and, of course, latkes. The children made edible dreidels and painted wooden dreidels. News 12 was there, and filmed their dreidel mascot, Chaim, singing many versions of “I Had a Little Dreidel.” Everyone then made their way to Untermyer Park for an outdoor menorah lighting in the temple area overlooking the Hudson.

On Tuesday, December 27, Chabad hosted another menorah lighting at Cross County with live music from the What’sUP Band. All enjoyed hot latkes, doughnuts and chocolate gelt.

On Wednesday, December 28, there was yet another menorah lighting at Ridge Hill Shopping Center, featuring the White Shabbos Band. All enjoyed hot latkes and doughnuts, and the children made a special arts and crafts project.

Finally, on Thursday, December 29, Chabad lit up Yonkers with a Grand Menorah Car Parade, complete with a police escort. The parade drove throughout Yonkers, this year with a stretch limo with a menorah on top leading the way, courtesy of Top Class Limousine. The parade ended at Nahmias et Fils on Saw Mill River Road with a pizza party, hot latkes and doughnuts.

Chanukah in Yonkers has never been brighter, and the festival was surely enjoyed by all.
