On Sunday, March 3, the expanded Seasons of Scarsdale hosted a grand reopening celebration. Upon entering the store, hundreds of excited shoppers were greeted by Seasons’ welcoming staff. Stations throughout the store served samples of many of their prepared foods. Family activities included a photo booth, coloring pages and balloon creations. All shoppers received complimentary purple canvas reusable shopping bags with their purchases.

“We are very excited to be open for business in our beautiful, newly renovated 12,000 square foot supermarket and we look forward to serving the greater community by providing them with the warmest shopping experience,” stated David Gellman, store manager. “We offer the following: Glatt Kosher Meat Department with Fresh Meat, Veal, Lamb & Poultry; Prepared Foods Department; Grab and Go Refrigerated Case with Prepared Salads, Side Dishes, Dips, Sandwiches and Wraps; Fresh Produce Department; In-house Bakery; Live Sushi Bar; Aisles of Grocery and Specialty Items; Large Dairy Department; and 36 Doors of Frozen Food, he added. “We also will be offering in-store specials and everyday low prices on a wide variety of items, and have a weekly sales circular that is sent via email to our customers. “I’ve been living in White Plains for 46 years. I’ve shopped in the Golden Horseshoe all these years. When the kosher butcher changed hands, I stayed,” explained Elayne Riskin. “I think the new store is great. It should have happened sooner. It’s a wonderful convenience for all. She enjoys ‘the ease of moving around the store, the aisles are wide which makes it comfortable to move around. Very happy to see the familiar faces from the old Seasons. If you can’t find an item, there is someone to help.”

Cheryl Gold of White Plains enthusiastically stated, “This is exactly what Jewish Westchester needed. It’s a one-stop shop for all your kosher items with the added bonus of an amazing fruit and vegetable section. I love the excitement and buzz I feel every time I walk inside and hear another new person say ‘OMG, this is the best store ever!’” Gold added, “Before Seasons reopened I did most of my meat and chicken shopping in Monsey at Evergreen. I filled in other groceries at Trader Joe’s and Stop & Shop. I even started baking my own challah.”

Gold revealed, “I’m embarrassed to say I think I have been there every day since they opened and every day I find a new item I didn’t see the day before. But I think, going forward, I will probably go one to two times a week. Mostly, I’m going for the fresh sushi and pre-made takeout items. My son loves cucumber salmon rolls and every time I walk in, the sushi guy already knows me and asks, ‘Do you need your son’s special roll today?’ and they make it right there on the spot while I wait.”

New Rochelle resident Dee Dee Farkas stated, “The new store is spacious, easy to navigate and has an incredible selection. I saw specialty baking items that have never been available in Westchester before! Since the store is so close, we’re going to try to go on a weekly basis. So long as the weekly specials are competitive with other Seasons stores, there’s no reason to go elsewhere.”

Farkas specified, “The Westchester Jewish community has grown tremendously in recent years and having this type of store is a wonderful convenience. For a family with two working parents, this means we no longer have to give up a Sunday morning to ‘stock up’ every month. With Pesach coming, Seasons in Scarsdale will be a huge help that week before when all of the last minute shopping happens.”

Yael Fraenkel of Harrison stated, “I will probably be stopping in once a week at the new Seasons. Unquestionably, it will be an enormous timesaver, especially on those hurried and harried Friday afternoons when, no matter how long a day is, there’s never enough time to get ready for Shabbos. I love the fact that there’s produce in the store; it’s a one-stop shopping store.”

Gold concluded, “I want to thank Seasons for reopening as a bigger and better store than before. Jewish Westchester is on the map!”
