SAR JV Lady Sting Defeat Frisch to Win Basketball Championship

Frisch and SAR came into the game having split their season series. SAR jumped out to an early lead behind the hot shooting of Sophia Reich and strong rebounding of Olivia Weinstein. Frisch began to chip away at the lead and was only down by seven at halftime behind the play of Charlotte Turner and Leila Deluty. Frisch continued their strong play in the third quarter and tied the game with four minutes left. SAR was able to regain the lead on a big three pointer by Bella Ingber. Clutch foul shooting down the stretch by Rita Feder sealed the 42-33 victory for SAR.

Sophia Reich led all scorers with 14 points, followed by Bella Ingber with ten points and Millie Helft with nine points.

SAR came into the championship game with an 11-1 regular season record, having defeated Heschel (#4 seed) and Central (#2 seed) on the way to the top.

As the varsity teams entered the TABC gym packed with fans, the SAR team cheered on their underclassmen, as the SAR JV team pulled away and won the JV championship game.

The SAR Sting started strong. They gained a fifteen point lead early in the first half, with Sophie Hecht (senior) hitting threes and Samantha Horowitz (freshman) making her presence known in the paint. Point guard Adira Orbach (sophomore) led the team with four assists in the first quarter, and shooting guard Davida Krauss kept SAR in the lead with her tenacious defense...

Yeshiva Wrestlers Compete and Win at Wittenberg

The 22nd Annual Henry Wittenberg Invitational ended last week with two New Jersey teams in the top rankings. The Frisch School of Paramus climbed to third place while Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School of Livingston claimed second place for its second consecutive year. SAR of Riverdale maintained its first place spot while the Maimonides M-Cats of Boston took fourth place, hitting the top rankings for the first time in that school’s history.
