Chabad Lubavitch of Riverdale is sponsoring a Shavuot ice cream party, which will take place at PS 24, 660 West 236th Street on Sunday, May 31, at 2:30 p.m.

The holiday of Shavuot marks the day that the Jewish people received the Torah at Mt. Sinai 3,318 years ago. Since children are considered the guarantors of Torah, Chabad will hold this special party so local kids can hear the reading of the Ten Commandments while enjoying ice cream. There is an age-old Jewish custom to eat dairy foods on this holiday.

This program is free of charge, and geared to all children up to age 10. There will be prizes and games for all participating kids.
